Let' take the first photo as a sample to learn how to use it.
After open the HSB Curve Dialog,you can see 12 control points which can control the shape of curve. The X-axis means the different Hue value.
Default, the mode of control is 'saturation' which means the curve controls the saturation by different hue.

To get the effect as first photo, we can drag the control points, desaturation the non-red colors like this:

The above steps are very easy. Some time, meybe we want more precisely adjustment. For example, we want only the there biggest flowers in center keep red, while removing other small red around it.
OK, you can switch to paint mode, use 'Color/Decolor' tool to erase them:

You can enhance or desaturate any color you want in 'satusation' mode.
There are two other mode: Hue mode and brightness mode. Hue mode is always used to replace color.
